Look! Flying Tuba Bells!
Yes, I know this is three months overdue, but I'm sure you expected it, being the professional procrastinator that I am.
In October, I told you I had state competition with my marching band. Well, I went to it with the rest of my band about two to three hours before our performance. It was a cold and somewhat windy day. Well...at least it used to be.
We go out on the field with our fingers literally frostbitten with Matt trying to lighten the mood by saying, "Make sure your bell is pointing straight behind you so it's not pointing towards your crotch," (which we all snickered over, might I add). As soon as we step out on the field, the
Looking into Colleges and...Other Stuff
Yeah, I know. Long time no see guys.
Recently, I've been looking into colleges lately, more specifically the all-women ones. Currently, Mary Baldwin is appealing to me the most right now due to their marching band (which is part of the Virginia Women's Institute for Leadership) and because they have a synagouge within walking distance from the campus. I'm also looking into their all-female cadet corps, though I do have to take ROTC classes. However, I'm not required for enlistment into the regular military. Dad says he definitely didn't picture me as the kind of person who would do ROTC, but it might be more benificial in the long run f

Well, I finally finished marching band without passing out from heat exhaustion (I almost did, though), so now I am back to regular practices on Tuesday and Thurday, and starting next week, sectionals on Wednesday as well.
Yesterday was our first Tuesday practice, and our section leader, Matt, has his head up his ass. It's not like I didn't know this before, but I didn't know he was that full of himself.
First, three people are missing, Matt, Todd, and Sherika, so I had to take the place of the section leader (since Todd wasn't there to take over because I think he was sick) and take role. I did what our band director told us to do; mark wh
Band Camp 2006: Day 2
Well, to be honest, there's not really much to report today. Today we just broke into sectionals, did a whole brass ensemble session, and then practiced our show music as a whole with the percussionists.
The band director is also making us wear these so-called "drill T-shirts" during marching practice on the field. They are just plain white with our name and assigned drill number on both the front and back of our shirts. We are supposed to decorate them, and then the band staff members vote on which section has the best decorated T-shirt at the end of band camp.
We also just got a new freshman in the mellophone section today who came in fro
